Annotating Strategies

Around 95 per cent of the data that is generated in distinct organisations is not structured. Unstructured data cannot be defined appropriately especially if you are setting up an AI model for healthcare purposes. Feeding information for processing and delivering output to an algorithm makes all the difference. The process of annotation is diverse as it can be annotated either by using your hand or through document software. Besides, annotating on a post-it is another option especially when you have a text ready but you don’t wish to mark it up. Here are some strategies you can use to make the most of your annotation tasks.

  • Use a key on the paper as it helps in indicating the significance of each marking and use different markings for every type of information to avoid confusion.
  • If you are using highlighters, use different shades for different categories of the text reactions.
  • Devote distinct tasks to every margin. You can make use of one margin for outlining the text such as description, thesis statement, definition and more. Thereafter, summarise the key ideas and use another margin for noting your reactions, questions or thoughts to the text.

When you are annotating, add text descriptions besides your reactions to it.
