Risks Of Artificial Intelligence In Cyber Security

Although artificial intelligence is known as an ally for cyber security, it does not make it risk-free.  There are certain potential risks that one must be aware of. The top 3 are:

  • False Positives and Negatives:

Although artificial intelligence is smart, it could be better.  Sometimes it may flag wrong things as a thread,  also known as false positives.  On the other hand, sometimes it might miss real threats, also known as false negatives.  This happens as the machine needs time to learn the threats and vulnerabilities of your business.

  • Adversaries

Just as you develop an AI model to protect your business, cybercriminals can also use artificial intelligence to create models to disrupt what you have implemented.  They can employ artificial intelligence to understand your models and create algorithms to disrupt them.

While this is complex, certain intelligent cyber criminals will make this possible therefore you will always have to be vigilant.

  • Privacy

Artificial intelligence systems require large data sets to loan and function as per your business this means you have to feed the system with your Private data and sensitive information. If this is exposed you may have to face regulatory compliance. Ensure that you are always vigilant of this.
