Top Companies Using AI for Autonomous Vehicles

An autonomous car is a vehicle that is capable of sensing its surrounding environment and using this data to operate without human involvement. Unlike regular cars, a human is not required to take control of the vehicle at any time, nor does it require a human passenger inside. Some of the companies using AI for AV’s are:

  • Amazon

Amazon-owned platform Zoox plans to get into the robot taxi business “We really invested the extra time and resources to build a vehicle that doesn’t require exemptions and then that basically lets us control our own destiny and also deploy our vehicles at scale,”  Zoox’s Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Jesse Levinson, told Reuters.

Zoox claims it has combined multiple technological aspects like AI, robotics, vehicle design, etc. for its robotaxi. It was founded in 2014 and then acquired by Amazon.

  • General Motors

Cruise, GM’s autonomous vehicle subsidiary, got its driverless deployment permit in June.

“This means that Cruise will be the first and only company to operate a commercial, driverless ride-hail service in a major US city,” said Gil West, its Chief Operating Officer.

There are many other investors like Microsoft who are an active part of this AV section.

  • Tesla

Tesla is one of the leading companies in the field of AV. The company uses AI inference chips, training chips, and deep neural networks to work on all the challenges that AI-used AVs face.

“Our networks learn from the most complicated and diverse scenarios in the world, iteratively sourced from our fleet of nearly 1M vehicles in real-time,” says Tesla

Tesla also has a bot; Tesla Bot – a humanoid that will help it with all functions unsafe, boring, and repetitive.

Many other companies are also joining this industry. Let us hope that the future is bright.
